The Handmaid's Tale (S1E1)

I first learned about this TV series,   The Handmaid's Tale ,  when I was browsing Youtube. I saw a channel was introducing this   series, and it caught my attention in a few seconds then I decided to put it on my "D rama List . " It is a new topic that is different from any other movies or TV series I'd seen before, therefore, it attracts me a lot. I  looked forward to it a fter knowing that it is  adapted from  a literature work. Eventually, I get the time and opportunity to watch it this weekend, and it didn't let me down.  It’s even better than my expectation. M y attention was captured by the opening scene when the family is running away from a group of armed men. It makes me want to figure out what are they hiding and why are they fear. Then the camera is pulled back to a small, tidy room with a woman sitting in the middle, narrating the background of the story and her certain situation.  She is now known as Offred, the Handmaid to Comman...

Energy and Nuclear Policy

Taiwan is facing the problem of power shortage so it is urgent for us to find a solution. Also, I believe that most of the country in the world have encountered the same problem now. So, we want to take a deep look at how people from other countries view the issue of power shortage and the use of nuclear power, and the possible solution we can think of. Therefore, my partner and I decided to conduct an interview about energy and nuclear policy.      The first question we ask in our interview is “Do you support the use of nuclear power?” We have received three positive answers from our Chinese and two American interviewees, while our Japanese and Malaysian interviewees don’t support it. Then we assume that the answer might have something to do with the land area and the population density of the country. So we ask them a follow-up question that if they got wider territory and land with no people live aside, will it influence their willingness to building ...

The Metamorphosis

This week I watched a documentary about the great book: The Metamorphosis, therefore, I want to talk about the relationships between Gregor and his family during his transformation.     First I want to introduce his mother. At first sight she saw Gregor turning into a bug, she was so shocked that she fainted. She does care about her son, but she just couldn’t help but shows her fear and disgust of the bug. But, she tries to show her sympathy toward Gregor when Grete refuses to let her see Gregor, she shouted and insist on meeting him as you can see in the quote. However, as Gregor has been losing his humanity gradually, she faints in terror once again. She becomes more bothered by him just like everyone else, and she gives up at the end and feels relief when Gregor is dead.     Then I’ll go on to Gregor’s father. A ctually, we can see that there isn’t much changed in Gregor’s relationship with his father throughout the story. He appears as an unk...

Finding Confidence

I think there're plenty of ways to make ourselves feel more confident.  I'll share my experience before.   When I was in junior high school, I couldn't score high in the math midterm.  My brain went blank at the moment the test paper was passed to me.  I found out, that was because I was too--nervous. I kept asking myself: what if there was a question I'd never seen before? What should I do? Then the result came out as you know, I had wrong answers on either the question I was unfamiliar with or the question I'd practice for thousands of times.   Then I turned to my teacher for help. She asked me to do a few things; first, close my eyes and take a deep breath before any test. Second, tell myself in mind that I studied hard for the test, so don't worry, I can do this. When meeting a difficult question, don't panic, calm down then I would find out it could be solved with the simplest concept.  I  tried it, and I got the highest grade in m...
